Painting: Alchemy and Light

 

Come and discover the secrets and beauty of Painting. This intensive course will examine the historical and contemporary practice in painting.

 

We will explore traditional technical methods used for hundreds of years since the outset of frame based painting, including demonstrations about surface preparation for supports and making of paint with pure pigments.

 

In addition to looking at the process of the alchemical we will investigate the themes and inspiration behind a variety of painters, from the past and present, to enhance and create your own themes and inspiration. 

 

You are welcome to bring your own choice of supports such as canvas, board or paper and paint medium such as water based or oil. Guidance and advice will be available on how to extend your range and technical ability.

 

As well as the development of your own visual language you will gain an enhanced understanding of the processes and techniques used to create great works in art history. There will be a selection of still life and Life drawing sessions included.

Thursdays 10am -2pm. £300 for 6 sessions, or £60 per day 'drop in' rate.
